ROVIN CERAMICS is committed to manufacturing the finest quality moist clay available. Most formulas contain many ingredients to overcome variations in the different naturally occurring raw materials. This way, no individual raw material will have a major impact on the final body. The accurately weighed raw materials are first blended with water in a ribbon mixer to the specific water content. This blended formula is then tested for plasticity and workability before removing from the mixer. This mixture is then run through a de-airing pug mill and cut into 25 pound blocks. The blocks are placed in a plastic bag and boxed individually. ROVIN CERAMICS moist clay can be used immediately or stored for later use.

ROVIN CERAMICS will also custom blend your formula using the ribbon blender method or by filter pressing. Minimum order is 2000 pounds. Custom blended clays are scheduled between our normal production runs, so it is advisable to schedule your order in sufficient time. When you phone, we can give an approximate date which will be "fine tuned" as the production date approaches. It is advisable that the potter be present during the initial stages of the run so that we can make the clay to your specifications.

ROVIN CERAMICS moist clay formulas are also available in dry form. Minimum order is 100#. For large quantity orders, the dry clay can be packaged in 50# bags or 500# fiber drums. Either way, the material will be palletized, and banded or stretch wrapped.

ROVIN CERAMICS does not use sand as a grog in any of our clay formulas. It might be a less expensive grog, but introducing all that uncontrolled silica is, in our opinion, not worth the savings. ROVIN CERAMICS only uses high quality calcined fireclay and kyanite, raw kyanite and molochite.
