It is a known fact that clay that has been allowed to age in a moist condition has vastly improved plasticity. Although our mixing procedure thoroughly blends the proper quantity of water into the clay, and the de-airing pug mill produces a block of ready to use clay, aging improves the plasticity significantly. It just takes time for the naturally occurring microorganisms in the clay and water to do their "magic".

Therefore, ROVIN CERAMICS has decided to set aside selected ROVIN moist clays and allow them to age for at least one (1) year. These special ROVIN CERAMICS clays will be known as "365" Clay. Presently, we have chosen:

RO-10 (Classic cone 7-11 gray stoneware)
RO-20 (Temmoku, cone 7-10)
RO-72 (Midrange gray stoneware)
RO-90 (Domestic Porcelain, cone 7-10)

The clay will be double wrapped in 3 mm thick plastic bags, instead of the normal single bag, and stored at room temperature in our building for at least one full year. The additional cost is $ 0.025 per pound, based on proper bracket. The first clays will be available in autumn of 2002. This may seem like a long time away, but it will be here sooner than you think.

If this is of interest to you, reserve your clay now. Call or write us about which of the four clays listed above interest you and the quantity. We will add your name to the list in chronological order, and call you when the "time" is near. There is no obligation to purchase at anytime. If you are not interested, no problem, we will just move down the line.

We have chosen the four ROVIN moist clays listed above, because clay artists purchase these clays for their studios or make a formula themselves that is similar. Certainly, if there is enough input, we will expand the list. Enjoy!
